PURPOSE:
Allows hair strands to move easily pass one another.
IMPLICATIONS:
This ingredient it is very hydrophobic, so once on the hair shaft not much water may penetrate the coating and thus may make the hair dry. It is also difficult to rinse away from hair shaft, requiring a detergent/surfactant to remove. You will need to use a clarifying shampoo to remove it if it's used in your leave-in products.
