PURPOSE:

Alpha Hydroxy Acids is a cleansing agent and lubricant. This ingredient is able to clean hair well without stripping it of its moisture. Also, it is a great exfoliant - removing dead skin cells from scalp.

IMPLICATIONS:

At high concentrations this ingredient can burn the scalp and be extremely irritating if coupled with sun exposure. However, cosmetic formulations have relatively low and maneagable concentrations.
